Promoting Your Project

Promoting your project

Congratulations on receiving funding for your project! We’re proud to fund projects across London which are helping to alleviate the impact of child poverty.

If you have received funding, you must acknowledge the support your organisation has received from The Childhood Trust.

In this section, you will find template documents which will help you promote your funded project – raising valuable awareness for the work your organisation is doing to provide every child a healthy, happy and safe childhood which prepares them well for life.

Share your news on social media

Social media is a great tool to publicise your new grant and the impact of your work.

Follow The Childhood Trust on social media and tag us in your posts. We’re on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

Use social media to share your news, with pictures and videos of your project. Or send us your content for us to use on our digital channels, at: communications@childhoodtrust.org.uk

Let your favourite news outlet know your new funding

Being awarded a grant from The Childhood Trust is great for your organisation, but it’s even better for the people in your community who you’ll support with your great work. Local newspapers and radio stations will be interested to know your story and how you plan to help people when they need it most.

Identify which media outlet to target

Think about who your key audience is and how that aligns to media outlets in your area. It is good to contact your local BBC radio station, as well as any commercial station in your area. There might also be local publications, websites and blogs interested in your story.

Having a named contact at a media outlet is great when publicising your project. By building a relationship with a reporter, your project becomes a trusted source of information and can lead to additional media coverage. Call the newsdesk at the media outlet and ask if there is anyone you should send the press release to.

Drafting a press release

When drafting the press release, it is important to think about the impact your project has on your community. How are you making a difference to children and families and how are you improving their lives?

When sending the press release, be sure to attach a high-quality image of your project in action to illustrate your project’s mission.

Inform your elected representatives of your great news

You may wish to contact your local MP to update them on the funding you’ve been awarded from The Childhood Trust. You can find out more about your local MP by entering your postcode here. When contacting your local MP, you should tell them the positive impact your project is having in their constituency and ask if they would be interested in visiting your project.
