Introduction

Champions for Children 2023 will be our first campaign with in our new 2023 – 2026 impact strategy, Prepared for Life.

We will raise funds to provide support for children across our four key priority areas:

  • Physical Health
  • Mental Wellbeing
  • Home & Community Environment
  • Learning & Work Readiness.

Our first Champions for Children campaign launched in 2020 in response to the devastating effect of COVID-19 lockdowns on vulnerable children. Since then, our annual Champions for Children campaign has raised over £9M, providing vital funding to 250 charities and engaging approximately 430,000 children facing disadvantages and poverty across London.

The schedule for our 2023 campaign is:

  • Applications close Friday 24th February 2023
  • Get Campaign Ready Event - Friday 5th May, 15:00 – 18:00
  • The campaign will take place Tuesday 6th June – Tuesday 20th June 2023
  • Funding offers made from June 2023
  • Monitoring and evaluation will commence June 2024
  • Impact reporting to donors will be in September 2024

The campaign will raise unrestricted funds for charities delivering projects across London. To be eligible all partners must:

  • Be a UK-registered charity with at least one year of filed accounts and an annual income of at least £25,000 (as per last filed accounts).
  • Work with children living in Poverty in London.
  • Registered on theBigGive.org.uk (free to register).
  • Able to raise total campaign funds of at least £8,000.

How we support charities

Charities who participate in our campaigns receive:

  • Workshops on how to run a successful fundraising campaign, including topics such as how to formulate your campaign messaging and how to use social media effectively
  • One-to-one support on any aspect of the campaign
  • Connections with other charities working with children and young people across London
  • Raised profile and visibility through broader campaigns, events and other activities to raise awareness of the issues around child poverty and drive traffic to the charities
