Celebrities Help Us Put Wonder Back into Winter

As the winter months set in and temperatures drop, many of us find comfort in warm homes with cosy blankets and hot meals. But for 700,000 children in London, this often overseen luxury will not be a part of their reality. Instead, cold, dark and hungry evenings will be their normal as they face a relentless daily struggle.

In November, we launched our latest campaign, Winter Without Wonder, to raise awareness and vital funds to tackle child poverty in the capital. Running until January 5th, the campaign is calling on the public and our community, to help us provide the basic necessities that so many children desperately need during the winter months. The funds raised will go directly towards our programme delivery as we provide children in need with the resources and support they need to thrive in London. This includes basic necessities like warm clothing, food, and a safe space to sleep, as well as educational programmes that help children grow in confidence and unlock their potential.

To expand the reach of our campaign and inspire action, we invited several high-profile celebrities to join us in spreading the message. These individuals, each with a deep personal connection to the cause, have used their platforms to amplify the campaign’s impact. We can't thank them enough for supporting and sharing our mission with their communities this winter.

Our Celebrity Supporters

  • Lacey Turner, Actor (Eastenders)
  • Hope Ikpoku Jr, Actor (Top Boy)
  • Navin Chowdhry, Actor (Eastenders)
  • Elizabeth Day, Journalist and Podcaster (How To Fail)
  • Sunetra Sarker, Actor (Casualty)

Each of these celebrities shared a graphic featuring a thought-provoking statement, such as, 'How can children dream of winter fun when they’re worrying about where their next meal will come from?' This sparked reflection and inspired action from their followers, helping amplify our message. Thanks to their support and the power of our campaign hashtag #PuttingWonderIntoWinter, we reached an incredible 1.4 million individuals. This raised awareness of the challenges facing young people in London and the important work we’re doing to address them this winter.

How You Can Make a Difference

This winter, you can still join us and our celebrity supporters in putting wonder into winter for London’s children. By donating to our Winter Without Wonder campaign, you will directly support our mission to end child poverty in London, ensuring every child has the opportunity for a brighter future in 2025! Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide basic essentials like warm clothing, food, and bedding, as well as educational support that can transform a child’s future.
